The Karara Iron Ore Project
Karara Mining Ltd in WA was established in 2007 as a result of a 50/50 Joint Venture Agreement between Gindalbie Metals Limited and Angang Steel Company Ltd, one of China’s largest iron ore miners and steel makers.
Karara has the potential to be a life-long iron ore business producing magnetite deposits and multiple hematite deposits.
The project produced its first shipment of hematite products in March 2011, and by
December 2012 had reached its milestone of one million tonnes of hematite.
Gindalbie Metals have announced that Karara’s first major shipment of 55,000
tonnes of magnetite concentrate is now headed to China. By the end of April
2013, the company expects almost eight million tonnes per annum is capable
of being produced.
Location And Lifestyle
Flying to the Karara Site takes 45 minutes from Perth, is 60 minutes from
Bunbury and only 30 minutes from Geraldton. The Karara
Village accommodation is brand new and offer high quality facilities including
internet access, 3G mobile coverage, swimming pool, tennis, cricket, gym,
volleyball and mini golf. The project has provided significant supporting
infrastructure and has built the Karara Export Terminal in Geraldton.

The Karara Project has provided numerous employment opportunities for Perth and its economy with a construction workforce of over 1500 employees and
an additional 300 jobs providing significant business opportunities. A range of
